It's a topic I've written about before: reading is one of the easiest (and free!) ways to gain skills that will improve your business.
Whether it's an autobiography of a business person you admire, a book sharing specific tips on startup financing or writing business plans, or a spiritual book that teaches you how to live more mindfully, there's no limit to what we can gain from reading.
Curling up on the couch or in bed after a long day to get lost in a book is one of the best feelings ever, and it's even better when you're absorbing information that will help you in your business - especially since you don't have to actively try to remember what you're reading.
〰️Lean In 〰️ Sheryl Sandberg 〰️ 9/10 I’d heard SO much about this book, but for some reason never got around to actually picking it up. Earlier this year, I finally read it - and it was amazing. I think the boring cover had subconsciously made me expect it to be boring, but old Sheryl threw a lot of jokes into the book. I loved it so much I forced my mum to read it, who’s now also a Sheryl convert. It’s a quick read, so there’s no reason not to pick it up.
〰️Talk like TED 〰️ Carmine Gallo 〰️ 7.5/10 Public speaking is one of those things I’ve always sucked at, but have wanted to be good at. This book breaks down what makes TED talks so watchable, and teaches you how to include some of those tips and tricks into your own public speaking. Hint? It’s all about storytelling. Perfect for novices who need to make a speech at work (or even at a wedding) - it really helped me out! 〰️How to be an Overnight Success 〰️ Maria Hatzistefanis 〰️ 8.5/10 Be warned: the title is a red herring. The whole point of this book (which is also Maria’s memoir of sorts) is that overnight success doesn't actually exist. Her company Rodial - and all associated brands - are famous world-wide, but Maria put in literally years of grinding and late nights before achieving the success she’s known for today. A great reminder of the importance of hustling, and it’s inspiring to follow Maria’s journey step by step.
